| Article Topic: Seniors Enjoy RVing Seniors Enjoy the Social Aspects of RVing The weekend RVer has become more prevalent in recent years, fueled by an influx of baby boomers. But the RV industrys primary supporter is still the retired, senior sector. Traditionally, full-time and part-time RVers are looking for vehicles that provide them with all the comforts of home. Manufacturers have been quick to deliver residential-style amenities, particularly in their higher end motorhomes and towable products. "We find that RVing is a great fit for seniors who, after years of hard work, no longer have a desire to rough it while camping," said Bill Prinz, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for RV manufacturer Jayco, which debuted its first Class A motorhome in its 2002 model year. Furthermore, according to a published report in the Wall Street Journal, senior campers are just tired of being uncomfortable while they are trying to enjoy the outdoors. Experienced RVers dont want to settle for primitive when they can travel in style, including comfortable living and sleeping areas, full-service dining and bathroom facilities and large storage spaces. RVing offers mature adults both a higher level of comfort and a way to build lasting relationships through networking with individuals who share common interests. In addition, they can enjoy the reduced stress afforded by the freedom and flexibility of the lifestyle. There is also a strong sense of belonging, reinforced by rallies, campouts and other activities at campgrounds or through national RV clubs. Because of these multiple benefits, many seniors choose to become full-time RVers. Hal Norvell of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) said, "RVing is a fun, efficient and economical way to see the country and meet new people." Whether its to visit grandkids, take a snowbird vacation or an across-the-country trip, RVing is a popular choice for todays mature Americans. END |
